First RTÉ Concert Orchestra tour of China

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra’s first tour of China in December/January featured five concerts in five cities, Nanjing, Suzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and Shenyang. The tour was a major success, with attendances averaging 85% and hugely appreciative audiences. Under conductor David Brophy, and with violinists Zoë Conway, Mia Cooper and Ning Feng, the RTÉ CO performed a programme showcasing its eclectic range. Chinese state television covered the tour and the Irish Embassy hosted a special reception.
